Tiger facts

Tigers are the largest cat species in the world and the third-largest carnivore on land--only polar and brown bears are larger.

Subspecies of tigers - Bengal tiger, the Indochinese tiger, the Siberian tiger, the South China tiger, the Malayan tiger, and the Sumatran tiger.
Tigers also categorized based on colours.white tigers , Golden tigers and others

Extincted subspecies of tigers - the Bali tiger, the Caspian tiger, and the Javan tiger

Tigers are the only cat species that are completely striped. They even have stripes on their skin.
No two tigers have the same stripes. Like human fingerprints, their stripe patterns are unique to each individual. Stripes range in color from light brown to black and are not symmetrical on both sides of the tiger.
A tiger's tail is about three feet long and helps them balance when making tight turns.

An adult tiger can consume up to 88 pounds of meat in one meal and will often stay with its kill or bury it to return and dine over a period of days. It may not kill again for four or five days.
Female tigers are super moms. After a gestation period of a little more than three months, they give birth (on average) to two to three blind and helpless cubs. The female is the sole provider for them until they reach independence at two years of age.
Tigers can give birth from 1-6 cubs at a time
Tigers have large, padded, feet that make it easier for them to silently stalk their prey.

You can hear a tiger's roar from up to two miles away. Tiger vocalizations include roaring, growling, hissing, moaning and chuffing
Tigers do not live in permanent groups like lions do. For the most part, they live solitary lives except when females are raising cubs. Although rarely seen, the term for a group of tigers is a "streak."

White spots on the backs of their ears are sometimes thought to function as "eyes" to ward off potential attackers from the rear. Another theory is that they help tiger cubs follow their mothers through tall grass.

Tigers are ambush hunters preferring to sneak up on their prey before exploding into action, killing them with a bite to the neck or back of the head. They mainly hunt deer, wild boar, buffalo and antelope. But they'll kill and eat what's available, from small birds to bears to the occasional elephant.

Tigers are generally nocturnal hunters. Their night vision is up to six-times greater than ours. But they're also opportunists, which means they won't pass up the chance for a daytime snack when it's available.
White tigers typically have blue eyes. Other tigers have yellow eyes.

Cheetahs facts - the fastest animal on earth -part 2

Cheetahs long muscular tails have a flat shape that is used for balance and steering. The tail essentially acts like a rudder on a boat.
Unlike other big cats, cheetahs cannot roar. However, they can purr on both inhale and exhale, like domestic cats!

Cubs are vulnerable to predators, and many do not survive the first year. Initially, mothers leave the cubs hidden whilst hunting, but cubs will start accompanying her at around six weeks.
Female cheetahs spend a long time caring for their cubs and teaching them essential survival skills like hunting. Cubs typically stay with their mothers for one and a half to two years.
Cubs are smoky in color with long, woolly hair – called a mantle – running down their backs. This mantle is thought to camouflage cubs in grass, concealing them from predators.
  • Cheetahs are extremely fast however they tire quickly and can only keep up their top speed for a few minutes before they are too tired to continue.
  • Cheetahs cannot climb vertical trees and have poor night vision.
cheetah has amazing eyesight during the day and can spot prey from 5 km away.
Cheetahs are considered a threatened species. It is believed that only 7,000 to 12,500 are left in the wild.

Cheetahs do not like to fight. They will give up their prey if a larger more aggressive animal approaches them to avoid a fight.
Scientist believe that the year marks protection their eyes from harsh sun light.
Cheetahs were kept as pets and trained to help people hunt in Ancient Egypt

Cheetahs facts - the fastest animal on earth -part 1

Cheetahs belongs to big cat family

Cheetahs are carnivores and live off other animals they find on Africa’s plains, including rabbits, warthogs, springboks, gazelles and birds.
Habitat - africa ,southeast asia
Cheetahs inhabit a variety of habitats – dry forests, scrub forests and savannahs.

It is the fastest animal on land. Reaches up to 70mph(112km/hr)

Adult weighs about
21–72 kg (46–159 lb)
cheetah reaches nearly 70 to 90 cm (28 to 35 in) at the shoulder

They will stalk their prey to within 100–300 m (330–980 ft), charge towards it and kill it by tripping it during the chase and biting its throat to suffocate it to death.
Cheetah cubs face higher mortality than most other mammals.
Cheetah is distinguished from leopard by its tear marks on its face.
Females usually give birth to between two to eight cubs at a time. She nurses her youngsters in a lair hidden by tall vegetation, until they are 16 to 24 months old and able look after themselves

Cheetahs have between 2,000 and 3,000 spots, which help them to camouflage themselves.
Cheetahs have evolved to live in an environment where water is scarce, and can survive on one drink every three to four days.

Polar Bear facts

Other names - sea bear , white bear , ice bear
Habitat - arctic region

Height:10 feet (Adult, On hind legs)
Weight: Male: 350 - 700 kg (Adult), Female: 150 – 400 kg (Adult)
polar bears are ferocious hunters, and they are the biggest carnivores among land animals.
Except for females with cubs, polar bears are solitary.

Even though they look white, a polar bear’s fur is made of clear, hollow tubes filled with air.

The polar bear's primary food source is seals.Their nose is so powerful it can smell a seal on the ice 20 miles (32 kilometers) away, sniff out a seal’s den that has been covered with snow, and even find a seal’s air hole up to 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) away.If seal hunting isn't going well, polar bears will also eat anything they can find, such as fish, eggs, vegetation, reindeer, rodents, birds, berries and human garbage

Polar bears are experts in still-hunting. Though Polar bears succeed in catching their prey in only 2 percent of their attempts.

Pregnant females dig a small cave in which it will give birth. It is called maternity den.

Polar bears have been known to swim more than 60 miles (100 kilometers) without rest in search for food. Unfortunately, that distance is increasing due to climate change.

Polar bear cubs weigh a mere 1 pound (.45 kilograms) at birth. They are hairless and have their eyes closed, depending on their mother to keep them warm and fed.
